Youmi Kim, LCSW, CAADC

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) who received my Master’s Degree of Social Work at the University of South Carolina in 2007. I have been working as a therapist for about 10 years and have been blessed to be a part of many different journeys.  I specialize in depression, anxiety, emotional regulation, stressor-related concerns, teens and parenting-related distress, addiction, boundaries, and relationship issues.

Language: Korean and English

My Story

My therapy approach is to assist you in identifying feelings and needs, clarifying your core values, creating better decision-making, and to help you find your authentic self using various therapeutic tools to make your therapy process more meaningful and effective.

The healing journey does not only mean symptoms are getting better, but also achieving a fulfilling life where you can thrive. I am committed to creating a safe and trusting space for you to open up and explore life by meeting you where you are.

I was born and raised in South Korea and came to the U.S in her early 20’s. I have been married for 10 years and has been trusted with three beautiful children to teach, laugh with, learn from. I believe my family has taught me patience, an amazing kind of love, acceptance, and gratitude.

When outside the office, I enjoy listening to music, nature, reading, and daily mindfulness practice.

I received additional training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) techniques, women and girls’ empowerment and self-care, Dialectical behavioral therapy(DBT), and substance abuse prevention and addiction. I completed the Active Parenting Facilitator’s training for parents of children ages 5-12. I can help parents understand the importance of children’s needs, effective communication skills, improved, non-violent discipline, and guides them on how to be more empathetic toward their children.

I am also approved by the State of Georgia DBHDD to provide substance abuse evaluation and ASAM level treatment where she addresses the issues of alcohol, marijuana, and drug use.
