Psychological
     Evaluation

If you’ve noticed patterns in yourself or your child such as difficulty staying focused, managing impulses, regulating emotions, organizing tasks, following through with responsibilities, or keeping up with learning/academic demands, it may be helpful to explore these concerns further. These challenges can influence many areas of daily life, including home, school, work, and relationships. A psychological evaluation can offer a clearer understanding of these concerns and help identify the most effective
supports.

What is a Psychological Evaluation?

A psychological evaluation is a comprehensive process designed to provide diagnostic and treatment clarity through multiple methods of assessment. It typically includes a clinical interview, completion of questionnaires, and standardized testing completed during one or two in-person sessions. Depending on the individual concerns being addressed, testing may assess cognitive ability, attention and executive functioning, problem-solving skills, motor and visual-perceptual abilities, academic skills, and behavioral and emotional functioning. Evaluations are typically completed within 30–60 days from the initial appointment, depending on scheduling and the complexity of testing.

The Evaluation Process

1

Initial Evaluation (1.5 hours)

The first appointment is a clinical interview, where we discuss your current concerns and gather background information. This meeting helps determine which tests are most appropriate for your evaluation. You may be asked to provide additional records, such as prior testing reports or written authorization to communicate with other professionals involved in our care. Collateral information may also be gathered if needed to better understand your functioning.

3

Online Measures (1-2 hours)

You will complete online questionnaires at your convenience. Choose a
time when you can focus, as rushing through items may affect the accuracy of the results.

2

Testing Sessions (2.5-3 hours)

Testing is typically completed in 1–2 sessions on separate days. Morning
appointments are recommended when you feel most rested. The specific tests selected depend on the
concerns being addressed.

4

Feedback Meeting (45 minutes)

The feedback session is scheduled 3–4 weeks after the final testing session, once all data and reports have been received. During this meeting, we review your results,
explain any diagnostic impressions, and discuss personalized recommendations to support your goals. You will also receive your comprehensive written report at this time. Attending this session is essential to fully understand the findings and how they can be applied in daily life. The goal of this meeting is to provide clarity, guidance, and practical next steps so you feel informed, supported, and confident moving forward.
